The three weeks of much needed rain have topped up our local reservoirs to above the 50% levels. The local community in Alhaurin el Grande will be relieved as there are many smallholdings in the valley growing a variety of fruits and vegetables. Olives, citrus, avocado and almond trees are commonplace and often providing some protection from the powerful summer sun for tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and butternut squash. The size of the fruits and veg here is amazing - but without water would not be possible! At Finca La Carroza we have olives, oranges, apples, apricots and loquats. We are looking forward to our first pine nuts from our stone pine (Pinea pinea) trees planted from seed in Grazalema Natural Park.
